● One IM injection of Benzathine Benzyl Penicillin (1.2 million units) at intervals of 3 weeks for at least 5 years or till the child is 21 years of age.
● For patients with carditis the treatment should continue for 10 years after the last attack or at least until 25 years of age, whichever is longer.
● For severe valvular disease, at least 10 years treatment or till 40 years of age or sometimes lifelong treatment may be needed.
